The Governor’s Schools seek outstanding professionals each year. The deadline for application for the 2017 schools is November 20, for GSA and November 28 for GHA. Deadlines for the other schools will be posted after February 1.

Faculty interviews for the Governor's School for the Arts have tentatively been scheduled for Saturday, December 3 for GSA. The site for interviews will be determined after teacher applications are received and evaluated. All applicants are not interviewed.

Resident Director/Resident Assistant Position Information for All Governor's Schools
Resident Director/Resident Assistant Position
The West Virginia Governor’s Honors Academy, the Governor's School for Math and Science, the Governor's School of Entrepreneurship and the Governor's School for the Arts are seeking applications from qualified individuals who have experience working with high school students and who will have completed their sophomore year and graduated from high school no later than 2015.
Scope of Responsibilities
The West Virginia Governor’s Honors Academy will be in session from July 2-22 at West Virginia University. Staff is expected to report to the site on July 1 and remain on site through the last day of the Academy. The Governor’s School for the Arts will be held at Marshall University, June 25-July 15. Resident staff is expected to arrive at least a day early for that as well.
The responsibilities of the resident director will include coordinating the resident assistants, managing the day-to-day student policy issues and interacting with the dean, faculty and staff. Basically, the RD and the RAs are responsible for the students anytime they are not in class. Applicants for resident assistant positions who were participants in Governor’s Schools and who have had resident assistant experience will be given preferential consideration. Applicants for resident director who have had prior experience as a resident director or resident assistant will be given preferential consideration.
The resident assistants will work closely with 12-15 students, the resident director, the faculty and the dean. They will be responsible for ensuring that the rules and regulations of the Academy/University are implemented outside the classroom, plan and assist with recreational and social activities and, be in charge of students when they are not in class.
Resident assistants will report to the Resident Director, who is their direct supervisor, participate in staff meetings, and perform other duties as assigned by the Dean, the faculty and staff.

Intern salary determined at site level according to scheduled work time
The resident director and resident assistants are required to live in the residence hall. They will receive lodging and meals.
GSMS Staff Positions Available
The Governor’s School for Math and Science has a limited number of Resident Assistant/Mentor and Administrative Intern positions available this summer for interested students, particularly those with strong backgrounds in STEM fields. The program runs from June 14-July 1 and brings promising West Virginia 8th graders to campus to learn STEM skills in a fun and challenging environment.
